At the end of May 2019, a northern Indiana family lost their home in a violent tornado, but a Bible remained nearly unscathed.
The family’s home outside Macy, Indiana in Miami County was blown completely off its foundation and into a nearby field. It was one of two homes in the area destroyed by the EF-2 tornado that blew through late on Memorial Day.
The home belonged to Nancy Sander’s sister. Sander told Eyewitness News her sister and her husband had just returned to Florida before the storms hit.
“She loved this place and the things, but had they been in the basement, they would have been sucked right out,” Sander told Eyewitness News.
Just like everything else in the home, some of it blown a half-mile or more away from the now-bare foundation.
“The majority of household items we’re finding here, but we found her quilt in the woods over there and her red wagon in the swamp,” Sander said.
But back on the porch sat a few toys, a picture frame and a Bible, virtually unscathed by the storm.
One user on social media commented: “The Lord still does wonders.”
Therefore, we can believe that God is always there to protect us even during a thunderstorm
