Here is the resurrection story. On Thursday night, more than 2,000 years ago, Jesus of Nazareth was praying in the Garden of Gethsemane just outside the Easter Walls of Jerusalem. His disciples slept as He prayed. The guards came to take Him down the Via Dolorosa to Golgotha, where He sweat drops of crimson blood…as the sins of the world were placed upon Him.
In agony, He looked up to God the Father, and said, “Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me…nevertheless, not my will but thine be done (Luke 22:42).”
There will come a time in your life when you will go through a great trial, when the will of God for your life and your will for your life…cross. You are going to have to say these exact words to achieve the destiny that God has in store for you. Jesus’ destiny was the cross. He was the Lamb of God, slain from the foundations of the world.
Had Christ not gone to the cross, He would have been a failure and there would not have been redemption for any of us. Rome could not convict Him. The cross could not conquer Him. The grave could not contain Him. Satan could not defeat Him.
He was and is…and always shall be the King of kings and Lord of lords. He has risen from the grave, and this week we celebrate our RISEN Savior!
