Dr. Pillai: I got interested in the Holy Spirit by watching Benny Hinn. He’s not an academic scholar, but then he lives the Holy Spirit, and that is the reason for his success. And that shows up in all of his writings, and in all of his presentations, and I am saying this not as a scholar in comparative religion because Holy Spirit is not particular only to the Old Testament, or the New Testament, but you can see that also in other traditions, other religions as well, as the Power of God.
And just the Power of God is also a misleading word. And God is also a misleading word because nobody understands what God is, and there are so many complications. But I’m not going to go too deep into it because people will be confused, even scholars will be confused. But what I want this series to do is to understand the Holy Spirit in a very practical sense so that he becomes useful to you, just as the Spirit is useful to Benny Hinn, and others.
So by watching him and reading his stuff on the Holy Spirit, I just could compare it with a lot of other things that I knew about Spirit, Wind, God, Word, all of these are related concepts. And what are they going to do to you? They are going to make everyone to practice the Power of The Holy Spirit in one’s life, and that’s the most important thing.
… Within the charismatic movement, there is no one who has been able to understand and live the Holy Spirit like Benny Hinn. I take that back because there is one more person that I know, not personally, but again through Benny Hinn, is Kathryn Kuhlman. And this is, I am speaking from my own ability to see things beyond the academic scholarship, from my being a person who is mystically understanding the religious phenomenon, on the spiritual phenomenon from a Mystic perspective.

When I was to watch, or whenever I had to watch Benny Hinn, or read his writings, and also his book on the Holy Spirit which he has done out of his own personal experience, I was so amazed, so amazed.
Now after looking carefully at both Kathryn Kuhlman’s work, and Benny Hinn’s, and also understanding what’s going on between them, and I clearly saw that “The Holy Spirit’ who was functioning in Kathryn Kuhlman, moving on to Benny Hinn.
There are so many… if you will, so many powers of the Holy Spirit manifesting in different people. Oral Roberts, for example. I just got to know more about Oral Roberts recently, after I got interested in the Holy Spirit, and then he did Miracles, you know, on a million people. But those are different ones.
Like he can touch people and heal right away, and you can see innumerable videos on that. That is a representation of the Holy Spirit in a very limited way. I wouldn’t say very limited, but in a limited way, but it is remarkable. But the caliber of the Holy Spirit, or it’s full manifestation, that you find in both Benny Hinn, and in Kathryn Kuhlman.
The Holy Spirit is not for one denomination, nor one group of people. Later on he also discusses that it is not for the Catholics, or Methodists, or the Gentiles, it’s for everyone.
So we have to understand the Holy Spirit in an in-depth fashion. And can that bring you to live the Holy Spirit within you, and that will enable you to do Miracles. the Power, Kathryn Kuhlman says it: the Holy Spirit will give you power, just as ”The Holy Spirit” gave power to Jesus. When he was baptized, the Holy Spirit came as a dove, and sat on his head, and since then he was able to do Miracles. Now he is promising: “I’m going to go, but He’s going to come”.
… The Scripture will be just words without any substantial meaning, unless the Holy Spirit helps you to understand the secret behind it. And you find Billy Graham saying that, and all of The Apostles saying that, and also Benny Hinn mentions that too.
