Joel Osteen was born on March 5, 1963. He was born in Texas and was the son of a pastor and church official. In 1987, Osteen married his wife, Victoria. They have two children. From 1982 to 1999, Osteen directed the broadcasts for Lakewood Church. Since he grew up in a religious home, it led to him becoming a minister. He has a way of encouraging others instead of simply preaching as to what they should and shouldn’t do in life. The church he leads now, The Lakewood Church of Houston, has over 30,000 members. Osteen is one of six children. Since he was a child, he didn’t have a way of easily talking with others whether in person or on stage. When his father died, Osteen spoke in front of a crowd of about 6,000 people. This was a turning point in him beginning his own ministry.
Osteen has written books and is known for being on networks and religious cable channels. He has a way with words that is eloquent. One of the things that Osteen doesn’t do is get involved in politics. He is a man who sometimes doesn’t condemn materialism as much as other pastors would like, but he is one of the most well-known pastors in the country today.
Each year seems to grow the net worth of Joel Osteen. He current worth is at $40 million. There have been reports that he stopped taking a salary from his church in 2005 and only relies on book sales and other engagements to make money.
