http://FergusonValues.com – Today’s quote is from Joel Osteen, American televangelist and Senior Pastor of Lakewood Church in Houston, TX.
An insightful quote from Osteen is:
“When you focus on being a blessing, God makes sure that you are always blessed in abundance.”
What resonates here with most people is the idea of being “blessed with abundance”. But I think the heart of Osteen’s quote is about the value of focus.
As a differentiating value, Focus means concentration of attention or energy; or maximum clarity.
Now think about Osteen’s statement. If you focus – that is you truly concentrate your attention and energy – on being a blessing for others, then something miraculous happens. You open yourself up for God to bless you so you can continue to be a blessing.
Does that sound like a paradox?
Consider the other side of focus. When you have maximum clarity, it’s amazing what can be accomplished. You know where to apply your energy and resources. You know who exactly will benefit the most. And you can see the potential outcomes from your efforts.
So you see, God is the one who blesses with abundance. Our job is to focus on being a blessing.
